Diving Cozumel

What better trip than a warm getaway to Cozumel for some diving? We took the entire family and we were not disappointed. Since we had a few members of the family who were new to diving we took some advice from Bluewater Travel and booked a trip to Scuba Club Cozumel. Cozumel turned out to be the perfect location and definitely deserves its reputation as one of the best dive locations in the world. The resort was designed by divers, for divers, so if you are serious about diving there is no better place. The resort houses its own PADI 5-star facility and full service dive center. All of the rooms are conveniently located around the pier with plenty of locker space, showers, and dunk tanks to clean and store your gear. Hammocks stretch across the water front and there is a small pool ideal for lounging. The house reef is perfect for a quick weight-check dive or getting in some evening diving where you will most likely see some resident eagle rays. Within walking distance of the resort is a local grocery mart where you can pick up almost anything you’d like.

The daily schedule couldn’t have been more perfect. Wake up, get breakfast, load the boats, dive, return for lunch, take a nap, grab dinner and relax, sleep, repeat. We were awaken daily to the sounds of tanks rustling as the crews prepared for the day’s boat dives. The breakfast buffet included fresh fruits, an assortment of breakfast choices and open air dining. The boat crew and dive master were amazing! They loaded our gear, took great care of us while underway and best of all we had the same boat, crew and dive master for the entire week so it was extra special getting to know these wonderful folks. They felt like part of the family before the week was over. Special thanks to Geiser who took us to some wonderful sites and guided us through some amazing dives! Dinner was offered in the restaurant (this has changed and dinner is now a “to go” option) with the ice cream dessert quickly becoming the family favorite!

All of the dives were drift, and it was easy to get immersed in the aquatic life as you floated down the coral walls or over the many coral reefs. A few of the sites we dove were Santa Rosa Wall, Punta Della, Chankanaab Reef, Palancar Reef, and Paso de Cedral. We spent most of our time diving and relaxing but manages to venture into the shopping district that was within walking distance a few times.

If you’re a serious diver or looking to become a certified diver, we recommend checking out this resort and all they have to offer. It’s an easy flight from the US, transportation can be obtained easily from the airport to the resort and the resort has a friendly staff that is more than willing to help insure you have a wonderful trip.
